U.S. Ambassador Visits the South Zone of Costa Rica

U.S. Ambassador Anne S. Andrew traveled to the south zone of Costa Rica in order to obtain first hand information on customs, border security and drug control checkpoints. Paso Canoas, Golfito and Checkpoint 37 were among some of the locations Ambassador Andrew visited.
Costa Rican officials gave the Ambassador and other U.S. officials a tour of their operation and discussed their equipment, infrastructure and training needs. After the site visits, Ambassador Andrew met with Golfito Mayor Jimmy Cubillo, who shared insight about the challenges the south zone is undergoing.
