U.S. Assists Costa Rica in Developing More User-Friendly e-government

San Jose, August 31, 2010

On August 31, U.S. Ambassador Andrew signed a grant to the Costa Rican government worth $438,000 to pay for a technical assistance plan that creates a blueprint for the information and communication technology needed for a fully digital government communication system. 

The company that wins the contract for this technical assistance will create a blueprint for how Costa Rican government entities can better share resources, exchange information, coordinate processes and activities, improve on-line case work, promote e-commerce, and facilitate citizen access to government information and services, improving transparency. 

Signing the grant on behalf of the Costa Rican government was Minister of Planning Laura Alfaro Maykall and witnessing was Alicia AvendaƱo Rivera, Director of Digital Government.
